Frequently Asked Questions

How much snow does Lake Tahoe get?

At lake level, annual snowfall averages 125 inches. At alpine skiing elevations, the snowfall averages 300 to 500 inches each year.

Is the snowmobile tour fun?

The ride is a blast. Although we advertise the ride as a scenic tour, we cover a lot of ground and ride up to almost 9,000 ft.

I’ve never driven a snowmobile. Can I take your tour?

We love first time riders, and our staff is made up of excellent, patient teachers.

Do you divide your snowmobile riders into groups according to their ability and experience?

We divide the groups by number of machines, not by experience.

Can my entire family ride in the same group?

Yes, we don’t separate friends and families.

Can we fit three riders on one snowmobile?

Yes. But it depends on each rider’s size and weight.

If we rent a double rider snowmobile, can we switch drivers?

We do not encourage switching drivers on all tours except the Exclusive tour, as it is difficult to ensure the proper person has been trained on all safety aspects.

How fast do we get to go on the snowmobiles?

Since our trails feature many twists and turns, the terrain dictates average speeds of 15 to 25 mph.

Is there an opportunity to go off-trail during the tour?

Because of obstacles off trail, all tours stay on trail between the lead and tail guides. If riders want to go off-trail we recommend our Ultimate tour or Ultimate Exclusive tour.

Are there any photo stops along the way?

Yes! Not only do we tour through some of the most beautiful country anywhere, we also have spectacular views of the Sierras. Each tour is designed to stop at various locations for epic photo opportunities. We recommend no photos to be taken while in motion.

How many miles do we ride on the various tours?

Usually between 20 and 30, depending on the weather and other conditions.
